Last year, a 38-year-old single from Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, was reminded by his parents that they were still waiting for him to marry. Afraid to go home for Chinese New Year without a girl, the man decided to hire a fake girlfriend.

He posted an ad online, saying he was willing to pay a lot of money to rent a girlfriend that he could take to his parents' holiday home. A young university student from Xuzhou responded to the announcement, hoping to make good money.

Thinking that the young couple wanted some privacy, the parents made us sleep in the same bed. A few months later, the girl discovered that she was pregnant. Abandoned and without any boyfriend to help her raise her son, the young woman decided to have an abortion.

She contacted the man several times to ask if he could cover part of her medical costs, but he declined.

This year she contacted the man who got her pregnant, but again the answer was the same. Then she sought legal assistance and the man finally agreed to pay her 3,000 yuan in compensation for the "accident."
