Electrostatic phenomena form the basis for the study of electricity that allows us to understand its nature and its presence in our daily lives.

  The phenomena of electricity were known from antiquity, but without any application. In the seventh century BC, Tales, in the city of Miletus - Greece - observed that a substance called amber, when rubbed, acquired the property of attracting other bodies. Amber, in Greek, means elektron, which is why the phenomena originating from them are called electrical phenomena, and the science that studies them is called electricity.
