Beauty in Egypt

"Blended beast gall, ground ostrich egg and germinated spell plant, mold into ball and grind together with a viscous fluid ...."
It is easy to imagine that these indications are intended for the preparation of a nauseating dish or even of any kind of magic potion, but it is in fact an Egyptian recipe for a make-up cream intended (according to the Ébers papyrus, medical manuscript of 1500 B.C).
In addition to giving beauty to those who wore them, cosmetics also had a practical purpose: eye paints were initially developed in Egypt as protection against the sun and eye diseases.
